Q1 - What is Nature Prescription?
Ans - When a physician or a healthcare worker prescribes, counsels, or advises in a written or verbal format to spend time with nature to do small things to protect nature, climate, or the environment, it is known as Nature Prescription.
Q2 - Why is it getting popular?
Ans - It is gaining popularity among the medical fraternity because it is helping patients recover; it is raising awareness of climate change, nature, the environment, and pollution; and it is adding value to medical prescriptions through a broader initiative.
Q3 - How it Helps?
Ans - Multiple scientific studies have shown that it supports the physical, mental, social, and spiritual dimensions of health. Its benefits enhance clinical outcomes and extend beyond that to create social connectedness and awareness. Simultaneously, physicians and healthcare professionals also get sensitized and play their much-needed role in preventing climate change and environmental pollution. Q4 - How is the Uttarakhand Initiative different?
Ans - In Uttarakhand, we are incorporating prescribing to act to protect the environment and climate along with spending time with nature.
Q5 - How is the Nature Prescription conceptually different from other awareness programs?
Ans - In nature prescription, a doctor or a healthcare worker is involved, and the whole message is part of a doctor's prescription. It is considered complementary to traditional prescription. It makes the advice part of a prescription, and studies have shown that people are more likely to follow a physician's advice.
Q6 - What are the benefits?
Ans - The most crucial benefit of the nature prescription is that it places the issue of climate change and the environment at the center of health discourse, which is often lacking in the context. People become aware of climate change and start discussing it with their families, friends, and relatives. It will motivate people to ask their local, regional, and national governments questions. Studies have shown that working with nature benefits our physical, mental, social, and spiritual health. Click Here For Scientific Studies.
